Our Founder

João bridges innovation, finance, and social impact. A top-ranked student at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro, João had engaged in many meaningful activities throughout high school. One of them is his research on producing biodiesel and activated carbon from coffee grounds, earning recognition at Latin America’s largest science fairs and publishing in several scientific journals.

Driven by a passion for empowering others, João also founded FinSmartly and created this website, as part of a project that teaches financial literacy to underserved communities, and the Operation Smile Club, supporting children in need of cleft care. As another remarkable entrepreneurial initiative,  he created VIG Aerobics, a science project that transforms the energy produced by people pedaling gym bicycles into usable electricity, which was awarded Best Startup by ESPM University.

Fluent in Portuguese, English, and German, João combines strong academic performance with leadership in competitions like the Wharton High School Investment Competition and the Harvard Crimson Global Case Competition. His experiences reflect a commitment to learning, sustainability, and building meaningful change through finance and innovation.

Our Vision

At FinSmartly, we believe financial education is the foundation of social mobility. Our vision is to empower underprivileged families with the knowledge and confidence to make informed financial decisions, transforming financial literacy into a pathway toward independence and dignity. Through accessible lessons, collaborative learning, and practical tools, we aim to bridge the gap between education and opportunity, ensuring that everyone, regardless of background, can take control of their financial future.

What We Do

Financial Literacy for All: We design and deliver lessons to underserved communities in São Paulo, making financial education engaging and culturally relevant.

Interactive Learning: Using Google Classroom and other online platforms, we offer workshops, exercises, and games that make complex financial ideas simple and relatable.

Why FinSmartly

The idea for FinSmartly was born from a desire to connect with people from all walks of life and to make finance approachable for those who need it most. What started as a small initiative to share basic money management skills has grown into a global community of over 200 students participating in interactive lessons and an international investment competition.

FinSmartly combines financial literacy with community-building, offering workshops, digital resources, and mentoring opportunities that teach practical concepts such as budgeting, saving, and investing. Beyond improving financial awareness, our mission is to inspire confidence, self-reliance, and long-term growth in the lives of families who often lack access to such education.

Global Exchange: Our international investment competition encourages students from around the world to collaborate, share strategies, and learn by doing, building a supportive global network of young learners and changemakers.
